WCBS radio is reporting that an FBI agent has been shot in Readington, on the border of Hunterdon and Somerset counties. Details of the incident are still sketchy, but it appears that the agent was shot during an attempted bank robbery. Two suspects are believed to be in custody.
This is roughly a mile or so from where I am now, the helicopters are still in the area, but I don't know what's happening at this point and don't know the agent's condition.

An FBI agent was killed in a shootout with three bank robbery suspects Thursday in north central New Jersey, a law enforcement official said.
Details of the shooting were not immediately released.
A law enforcement official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said agents were investigating a string of recent bank robberies in central New Jersey when they came upon the suspects leaving a bank near Route 22 in Readington. A shootout ensued.
One suspect was captured and two fled to nearby woods, the official said. State and local authorities are searching for the suspects with helicopters and dogs.
State Route 22 was closed off. A flood of police cars and officers from multiple law enforcement agencies were seen in the area.

An FBI agent was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Readington, N.J., home and garden center Thursday after an earlier incident at an area bank, according to local news reports.
A law enforcement official said FBI agents were investigating a string of recent bank robberies in central New Jersey when they came upon the robbery suspects leaving a bank near Route 22 in Readington.
A shootout ensued.
The agent who was shot was rushed to a hospital for treatment but he later died.
One of the suspects was captured and two fled to nearby woods, the official said. Television station helicopter footage showed police putting at least one person in handcuffs into a car. WNYW reported that there were two suspects in custody but that is not confirmed.
State and local authorities were searching for the suspect or suspects with helicopters and dogs.
Police swarmed an area around the shopping center, which contained several barns and other large buildings located in fields. SWAT team members could be seen entering each one.
WABC reported that the FBI victim was shot in the parking lot of Avis Garden Center on Route 22 in the Whitehouse Section of Readington. The shooting is believed to be related to an earlier incident at a PNC Bank across the street from the garden center.
One suspect, who is described as a black male with a tattoo near his right eye, was nabbed by police shortly after the shooting. He could be seen sitting handcuffed against a car, with both shoes off, and surrounded by SWAT team members with guns.
Footage from TV news helicopters shows the front of one car pointed at the side of another behind crime-scene tape.

A sad addendum, here's the latest statement by the FBI: "Preliminarily, information suggests the agent may have been fatally wounded as a result of the accidental discharge of another agent's weapon during a dynamic arrest situation."
I just heard the same, Buttercup :( CNN is reporting that it did come from another agent. I can't imagine how that person is feeling right now......if they even know exactly WHO it was. Just awful....
From what I've heard so far, the agent had blocked in the look-out/getaway driver. Another FBI van pulled up, and one of the agent's exiting the vehicle had an accidental discharge of his weapon. It entered the agent's armpit area, where there was no vest protection.
