RIPThe Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday on I-75 north of Ga. 20.
A Henry County patrol car slammed into the back of a truck. The truck was stopped because of another crash ahead.
Deputy Marvin Jerome Scarlett was killed in the crash. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.
Scarlett, 42, was a five year veteran of the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
The roadway was shut down until 9 a.m. Sunday. At this point, no charges are expected to be filed in the accident.
Deputy Scarlett leaves a wife and four children behind.

Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!

For God sakes, guys, be careful and slow down. No sense in getting killed en route to a call. Let this be a sobering reminder to us all so that his death is not in vain."If everyone is thinking alike, then someone isn't thinking." -Gen. George S. Patton
