Officer fell to his death
The Chicago Police officer found dead outside his Pilsen home died from a fall and injuries to his head, an autopsy determined.
Al Hernandez, 36, died from craniocerebral injuries suffered in a fall, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. His death has been ruled an accident.
Hernandez was discovered in a gangway next to his home in the 2100 block of West 23rd St. It appears the veteran officer may have fallen from his second-floor porch, or he may have collapsed, said Capt. Fred Konet of the Marquette Police District.
Hernandez was working as an evidence technician in the forensic services section, said Konet, his former supervisor.
