Deputy critically injured by suspected drunken driver in Bothell
By Jennifer Sullivan
Seattle Times staff reporter
A King County sheriff's deputy is listed in critical condition this morning at Harborview Medical Center after he was struck by a suspected drunken driver in Bothell early Sunday morning.
The deputy had just finished working at the Torchlight Parade and was riding home on his personal motorcycle around 1:30 a.m. when he was struck by a pickup that was leaving the Cozy Inn Tavern, 6215 N.E. Bothell Way, said sheriff's spokesman John Urquhart.
The 56-year-old Metro Transit Police detective has been with the department for 23 years, said Urquhart. His name is not being released.
The 36-year-old Phoenix man driving the pickup was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.

PDawg, you are correct. However, there is only 1 Sheriff, and he is only referred to as the sheriff. Each deputy is always called a deputy, or deputy sheriff, but never sheriff. Prayers are enroute.

Sorry if I used the wrong terminology, he is a deputy. Just heard an update on the news. He lost his right leg, but his condition has improved. I hope they nailed the scumbag who hurt him.

Awkwardly, Don (which I believe is the officer's name) is my mother's ex-boyfriend.
O.o
He did end up losing his leg, but he should pull through just fine, otherwise.
