Off-duty Colorado Trooper dies after collision with deer
NOT a great week for us here in Colorado. Sadly I saw this in the news while looking for updates on the previous sad incident.
DURANGO - For the second time in less than a week, a Colorado State Trooper has died.
The state patrol says 49-year-old Trooper Mark Dold, who was off duty Sunday morning, lost control of his 1999 Honda motorcycle north of Ridgway.
Troopers say he was trying to avoid a herd of deer when he ran into one of the deer and went off the side of the road and down an embankment. He was thrown off the motorcycle and into a fence post.
Trooper Dold was stationed in Durango.
He is survived by his parents, wife, two sons and a daughter.
On Thursday, two troopers in Adams County were hit by a car when they stopped to help a driver in the median.
One of the troopers, Zachariah Templeton, died from his injuries on Friday.
The other trooper, Scott Hinshaw, is recovering from his injuries at Denver Health Medical Center.
RIP.."Regulators, we regulate any stealin' of his property and we're damn good too. But you can't be any geek off the street. You gotta be handy with the steel if you know what I mean, earn your keep, Regulators! Mount up!"

Any time an officer goes down its the shits, at least it wasn't due to some low life. However that doesn't make the family any better. Rest in Peace Brother.
