CHP officer hurt when motorcyclist runs through police barricade

SACRAMENTO—A California Highway Patrol officer remains in the hospital after he was hit by a motorcyclist during a high-speed pursuit.
Authorities say the officer was thrown nearly 30 feet Thursday night after the motorcyclist rode through a CHP barricade and hit him. The biker was traveling at about 80 mph at the time.
Police had been chasing the motorcycle for about 40 minutes at speeds reaching 140 mph. The officer has two broken legs, a fractured skull and a broken foot. The motorcyclist was hospitalized for knee and shoulder injuries.
