AZ SWAT Officer down
PHOENIX — A Casa Grande police officer has died after being injured in a fall during an Arizona SWAT Team training exercise.
Sgt. Tate Lynch died several hours after being airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn following the Thursday afternoon accident.
Lynch, 36, was a seven-year police veteran. He is survived by his wife and three children.
Lynch fell while he was rappelling from a wall during a training exercise at the Pinal County Detention Center in Florence.
The state Department of Public Safety Critical Accident Team is investigating to determine how Lynch fell.
It is so sad when training accidents take the life of an officer.
Rest Easy brother my thoughts and prayers enroute to the family and friends of the fallen.
Train safe!!

I found out about this yesterday from my Sergeant. Aparently this guy was a good friend of his father when they both worked for Tucson PD. A small world. Shitty thing is, this really isn't getting much press coverage down here. Guess the press only thinks a shooting death is good news, as opposed to a training accident. Either way its still in the line of duty.
Yeah, AZ has had a bad year. a Mohave County Deputy was killied in car accident (also a friend of a coworker of mine,) Phoenix PD lost someone, the Quartzite Police Shooting (btw, if anyone remebers that, Officer Kemp is doing great and is back to work.)
Guess it comes with the poplation boom AZ is getting.
