We lost a Illinois State trooper
State police trooper dies in early morning crash
Last Updated 10/28/2007 3:51:28 PM
An Illinois State Police trooper was killed early Sunday after a three-vehicle crash that involved two alleged drunken drivers.
Trooper Brian McMillen, 24, was on his way to assist a local officer in Illiopolis when the crash happened about 2:50 a.m. just south of Interstate 72 at Dye and Calvary Cemetery roads.
The drivers of the other vehicles were Justin L. Taylor, 22, and Shaitan L. Cook, 28, both of Decatur.
Taylor was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence and improper lane usage. Cook was arrested for aggravated DUI.
Initial reports early this morning were the vehicles involved caught fire. Extrication of at least one victim was required, and two medical evacuation helicopters were on standby to transport victims to hospitals. State police, Illiopolis fire and EMS, and Sangamon County sheriff's deputies were at the scene, and the Sangamon County Rescue Squad was paged out.
McMillen graduated from state police training in February. He grew up in Pana and graduated from University of Illinois at Springfield in 2005 with a bachelor's in criminal justice. He is survived by his wife, parents and 10 siblings.

Thoughts to his family and departement. Rest in Peace.

A young, bright career cut so very short! RIP Trooper Brian McMillen. Another soldier for St Michael to watch over the guardians of society.

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.

Thoughts and prayers.
I'm not ruining your life, you are, and I'm just going to write a short story about it.
