Watch your backs!
IOWA CITY - An Iowa City police officer was injured this morning on the city's east side.
Officers say Doug Hart was cleaning up a pile of nails at the intersection of Muscatine and First Avenue. They say a motorist hit him as they turned through the intersection.
Paramedics transported Hart to the University of Iowa's Hospitals and Clinics. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the case because a city police officer was involved in the incident.
AP reports that a witness, Markie Channon, says the officer's back was turned to the van, which accelerated, striking the officer. Another witness, Sarah Drea, says the officer was thrown up into the van's windshield before he fell to the ground.

I'm not sure if the van took off or not. I wouldn't doubt if it did though.
