Officer Killed in Motorcycle Crash

I trained Officer Stone when he was in the Police Academy in 1993. He was an excellent student and became an excellent Police Officer for Birmingham. He will be missed very much. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Officer Killed In Motorcycle Crash With Deer

VESTAVIA, Ala. (AP) - A Vestavia police officer was killed in a motorcycle accident involving a deer shortly before 6:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 65.
Authorities said Officer Jeff Stone was headed to work when the accident happened at the Valleydale Road exit.
Stone was riding his personal motorcycle when a deer jumped in front of him. He hit the deer and was thrown from the motorcycle and was struck by another car.
An Air Force veteran, Stone had worked with the Vestavia Police Department for five years and before that he served 10 years with the Birmingham Police Department.

Sorry that this hit so close to home Snuffy. Some of our guys were on scene and I ran into a Vestavia officer later that morning. Just a reminder to everyone on here not leave your family mad. Hug them or kiss them when they are still asleep....you just never know when.
