Minnesota Deputy Critical After Crash
Minnesota Deputy Critical After Crash
Two people are in critical condition after an Anoka County squad car was broadsided at the intersection of Andover and Hanson boulevards, the state patrol said.
A Ford Escape driven by a 42-year-old Andover woman ran a red light and hit the squad car, the state patrol said. The woman's 16-year-old son who was a passenger in the car was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with serious injuries. He is in critical condition.
The 32-year-old deputy from Andover driving the squad car is also in critical condition and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, the state patrol said.
The woman had minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m.
All three people were wearing seatbelts, the state patrol said."When I'm driving along and I see a sign that says, CAUTION: SMALL CHILDREN AHEAD,
I slow down, and then it occurs to me, I'm not afraid of small children"!

The deputy has been upgraded to serious condition. He is an SRO and was on his way to the school at the time of the crash.

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Different severity of injuries. Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) is the obvious destination for the deputy, as it's a Level 1 Trauma Center.
