    Five Jersey City Officers Wounded

JERSEY CITY -- A stakeout of suspects involved in a "major crime" led to gunfire erupting in a Jersey City street this morning, leaving two suspects dead and five officers wounded, police said.
"One of our officers is in very, very bad shape -- life threatening situation," Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy said earlier today.

He was shot in the back, saved by his bulletproof vest and remains in the Jersey City Medical Center for observation. He has 11 Excellent Police Service awards, three commendations and a World Trade Center award.

MICHAEL CAMACHO, 25: A five-year veteran of the Jersey City police force assigned to the Emergency Services Unit, he was shot in neck and remains in critical condition at the JCMC. He has two Excellent Police Service awards and one commendation.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

    Thumbs up

Hang tough guys. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
As today's police officers you are not unlike your counterparts of years past. You are an elite group of select members, a brotherhood of highly trained professionals, who are called upon to protect your community in a time of need. Guardians for safety. Being a police officer is not for the faint of heart. You must be honest, trustworthy and fearless in the face of evil. You are being watched everyday. Represent yourself, your department and the shield, for it should always be the embodiment of all that is good and justly. You are the thin blue line. Be proud, be tough and be safe.

My condolences. I hope all the officers involved can recover quickly and with no ill effects. This incident could have easily become another Oakland or Pittsburgh.

Damnit!!! So they did get one of the officers. Rest my friend. I'm sure your LE siblings will take over from here. You did not die in vain, but with honor.

Most importantly, Healy said "two bad guys are no longer with us."
Amen to that. More children of perdition. At least they didn't clog up the judicial system with their appeals or the prison system.
