Oakland, TN officer shot & saved by badge

Oakland, TN, Patrolman Joshua Smith was attacked by 2 men on a traffic stop. The passenger attempted to stab the officer, and the driver shot him. A newly issued badge helped to deflect a bullet that was fired at his chest. He is recovering from his injuries.

"The two attackers are believed to be Hispanic, driving a grey late model Chevy Suburban with temporary tags on the outside that expired in September. The driver is about six feet tall wearing a black long sleeve T-shirt. The passenger is about 5’10 with a white long sleeve T-shirt. They both have medium builds and were wearing jeans. If you spot them don’t approach them, call 911 immediately."

The suspect description in the article is not much to go on, but hopefully the two perps are caught quickly and given some swift justice.

Wow, what an amazing badge! It will make for a lucky keepsake the rest of his life. I hope he recovers quickly, and that the suspects are caught.

Well Wishes for a Speedy Recovery Officer Smith.

Car stops are the worst, you never know who or what may be in there, thankfully his shield deflected that shot and he had good reflexes to duck the knife. Hope the two perps have been picked up and pose no more danger to any other LEO or civilians.
