Off Duty NJ Officer Shot, Crtically Injured
FAIRFIELD -- Law enforcement officials have identified the off-duty Fairfield police officer who remains in critical condition this morning after he was shot Saturday night while exchanging gunfire with two men less than a block from the township’s police headquarters, authorities said.
The officer is Gerald Veneziano, 26, of Belleville, according to two officials who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss details of the investigation.
