Southbound I-5 Shut Down After CHP Accident
The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Sacramento Airport have been shut down after dangerous driving conditions led to the crash of a CHP vehicle, injuring a law enforcement officer, according to authorities.
Traffic on Interstate 5 from Highway 113 in Woodland was shut down Saturday afternoon after a California Highway Patrol vehicle spun out while responding to a report of another accident.
A big rig carrying 10 tons of flowers smashed into the CHP cruiser, trapping the officer. Emergency crews extricated him from the vehicle and transported him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The truck driver was not hurt.
Southbound traffic is expected to be shut down until 5:00 p.m., according to the CHP.

Whoever wrote this story needs to pay attention. The video states that the truck was hauling 10 tons of flour not flowers. Which is about 7 pallets worth, I'm guessing.
I hope the officer is able to recover from his injuries and get back to work. Video says he has multiple broken bones. The officer lost control of his vehicle and was hit by the tractor trailer rig.

I'm glad he is alive. That said in foul weather even when rolling code 3 I rarely go much over the speed limit. Its not worth the extra risk to me to loose control of my car and wreck. If I don't get there I don't help anyone.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
