Yep, I heard it unfold live on the link you provided, it's awful to hear an Officer is down even when you are listening on a different Continent.
Condolences to the family of the officer who lost his life and I sincerely hope that the wounded officer is not too seriously hurt.A common mistake made when trying to come up with a totally foolproof design is to completely underestimate the innate ingenuity of fools.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you but it's still there on my list of options, so are you coming quietly.........?

Second officer was NOT shot, despite what most of us initially thought. The suspect emerged from a nearby wooded area and engaged him. Officer suffered a broken nose and eye socket, but was able to draw his weapon and kill the suspect. The second suspect was arrested approximately 3 hours ago at a nearby apartment complex. He had threatened suicide and a negotiator was able to talk him into surrendering.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
