LANCASTER, TX – The son of new Dallas Police Chief David Brown killed a Lancaster police officer and another man during a Sunday melee that left three people dead, according to a law enforcement official.
Video
A law enforcement source who is familiar with the case and who asked that he not be identified said Brown had been behaving erratically

Wearing boxers, sunglasses and no shoes, Brown apparently killed a man who had just pulled into the complex in his car with his wife and children. A short time later, he shot and killed Craig Shaw, a five-year veteran of the Lancaster police force who was the first officer called to the scene.
"This community has lost a good officer, a very good officer. We are heartbroken," Lancaster Police Chief Keith Humphrey said.
Craig Shaw
Shaw, 37, a father of two, was the first Lancaster officer fatally shot in the line of duty.

The news is saying it's official now:
The Police Chief's son killed both the officer and the man who had just drove up into the parking lot with his wife & daughter in the car. The people in the car were apparently total strangers and did nothing to provoke the gunman. They even raised their arms when they saw the gun, but he shot them anyway, right before the officer arrived.

I can't comprehend dealing with a tragedy like this. My heart and prayers goes out to all involved.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

Did you see the other thread in the news section? They gave this cop-killer's funeral a full police escort, just because he was the new chief's son.
I cannot imagine any greater insult to Officer Shaw's family. I imagine every officer in the area is livid over this.
Rest in Peace, and I trust that your Dallas brothers will handle the idiots who insulted you in this way.
