Deputy Mark Longway
Today is a sad day for me. My freind Mark will be laid to rest. Mark died last tuesday on his way home from work. His patrol car struck a Semi and he was trapped in his vehicle. I am privlaged to have known Mark and that I could call him a freind. Mark was a 6 year Deputy and retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service. Please pray for his family.
I cannot attend his funeral because I broke my foot and cannot walk on it, but I will me watching it. If anyone would like to watch it Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church - Watch and Listen the church will show it live on the website. If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen, a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath, a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? What do you have then? A sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero's path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed." "The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed. The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours."

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
