A 27-year-old Riverside police officer who served two Army tours in Iraq was shot to death near the entrance of Fairmount Park on Sunday night while running after a man who had been fleeing a hit-and-run accident in a stolen truck.

Slain officer's dad: 'I just want justice'
Police investigating the slaying of a Riverside police officer have recovered his missing handgun as a result of three warranted searches issued following the arrest of a man now charged with the officer's murder.
Detectives were led to Earl Ellis Green when a fingerprint was found Tuesday afternoon in a tractor-trailer he had stolen Sunday night, Detective Ron Sanfilippo said at a 12:30 p.m. press conference.
