MONROE, Wash. - A female corrections officer was stabbed to death Saturday night during a suspected attack by a inmate imprisoned for rape at the Monroe Correctional Complex, officials said.

The victim in that attack later sued the state, alleging that Scherf should never have been released on parole and was inadequately supervised after he was paroled. She lost the case after appealing all the way to the state Supreme Court.

Hopefully, at the very least this will right some wrongs. But these things should have never happened in the first place.
