3 deputy US marshals shot, wounded in W.Va.
ELKINS, W.Va. – Three deputy U.S. marshals were wounded by shotgun blasts while serving a warrant in West Virginia on Wednesday.
The marshals from the state's northern district were shot as they approached a residence in Elkins around 8:30 a.m., U.S. Marshals Service spokeswoman Lynzey Donahue said in a statement.
All three deputy marshals were transported to a hospital by helicopter. Donahue said their conditions were not immediately known. A spokeswoman at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown referred questions to Donahue's office.
The marshals were not named, and State Police and Donahue said no additional information was immediately available. An FBI spokesman in Pittsburgh said the agency was asked to assist.
