C.O.P.S. NEEDS YOUR HELP ...

National Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) is asking for everyone's help in getting over 50,000 signatures on a petition for the Congress by National Police Week 2006 (May 14-20) encouraging passage of H.R. 4424 which would afford surviving families of fallen public safety officers (police, fire, EMT's, etc.) to purchase affordable health care coverage through the Federal Health Care Program. Surviving families are paying up to $850 per month (and, as many of us know, is expected to increase another 30% in coming months) for health care coverage since the vast majority of public safety agencies do not continue to provide this coverage....even though their officers died in the line of duty.

Please visit www.petitiononline.com/hr4424 and sign onto the petition. Also ask every friend, police officer, firefighter, etc., to visit the website. And feel free to add your comments. Please be respectful of our national leaders!
Recently the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial gathered 25,000 signatures asking the Postal Service to develop a "law enforcement" stamp. Affordable health care coverage for America's surviving public safety families is one heckuva lot more important than a STAMP!

Please help COPS gather the signatures.
