Athens, GA police officer reportedly killed in shooting
Two Athens-Clarke County police officers were wounded Tuesday afternoon when a suspect fired on them, according to Athens police, and news outlets are reporting one of the officers died.

Channel 2 Action News Authorities were on the scene Tuesday in Athens after two Athens-Clarke County police officers were shot several miles from the University of Georgia campus.
The shooting happened near Sycamore Drive and Atlanta Highway, about three miles west of the University of Georgia.
Police were looking for a barefoot, heavyset, black man in blue shorts and a light colored T-shirt with a design on the front. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office, which is participating in the manhunt, identified the suspect on the sheriff's Facebook account as Jamie Hood, 33. He's 5-foot, 9 inches and 175 pounds.
Police said he may be in a silver Geo Prism with the numbers 375GHX on the tag. The car was spotted about a mile west of the shooting and then northeast of the university campus, near the Georgia 10 Loop.
