Brazoria County Sheriff's Office
Deputy Sheriff Charles Vanmeter
Deputy Vanmeter was killed in a motor vehicle accident last night around 9:30pm here in the town I work in. Another deputy in the vehicle is in guarded condition in Neuro ICU at the hosptial
I have worked with Deputy Vanmeter for over three years as his district borders my city limits. This is the first officer I have been somewhat close to that has passed away. Has not been easy. Everyone please send prayers for the BCSO family, Deputy Vanmeter's family, and pray for a speedy recovery for the other deputy."Sometimes doing the right thing, is not doing the right thing."

Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

Rest In Peace my Brother. May God grant you eternal rest and may He also look over your family and grant them peace now, in their most extreme moment of sorrow.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.
