Grenada, MS Capt. John Haddock

Capt. John Haddock, a 20 year Veteran of the Grenada, MS Police Department was killed in the Line of Duty this morning as he attempted to stop a vehicle fleeing police. The vehicle was approaching Grenada, MS at speeds in excess of 100mph. It was determined that to protect the lives of the citizens of Grenada the vehicle needed to be stopped before entering the city. Capt. John Haddock deployed spike strips just outside the city limits, the suspect vehicle swerved to avoid the deployed spike strips, striking and killing Capt. John Haddock.

If I hear of Funeral araingements I will let y'all know. I have family in Grenada and will likely try to get down there to represent my department in showing our respect.

Funeral services are set for Grenada Police Capt. John Wayne Haddock, who was killed Friday by suspects fleeing from law enforcement officers.

Garner-Harper Funeral Home says services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada, with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Haddock was 50. He was a military police officer in the U.S. Army and had worked 21 years for the Grenada Police Department.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Bennett Haddock; and sons, Nathan James Haddock of Mooreville, N.C., and John Garrett Haddock of Grenada.



Sorry for the short notice, there were no details yesterday when I left work, then when I got to work today I saw this. I had hoped there would be more notice as I had planned to attend.
