Aiken SC officer down
Two officers shot, one killed. This happened close enough to my home that I heard the sirens.

The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented
on his wearing his sidearm. "Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you
expecting trouble?" "No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have
brought my rifle."

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

My daughter posted this on her facebook today. Made me proud.
"Please keep the 2 police officers that were shot last night in your prayers. The officer that died late last night, Scott, was married and had three young children. They have all three suspects detained, but no matter what happens to the suspects, it will never make up for the loss of an officer's life. God sent Jesus down to forgive us and protect us from evil. God also sent police officers to protect us, no matter the danger. We are blessed to have police officers on this earth. So if you see an officer with a black strip across his badge, pray for them and give them a hug, they deserve it."\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

May he rest well in Elysian Fields.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.
