Lakewood (CO) Officer Down
This is a rough year for Colorado LE. We're at 6 for the year...actually 6 in the last 6 months. That's unheard of for this state based on our population/amount of LE personnel. We're second only to Texas....not a distinction I want to have. I can't even imagine what the officer involved must be going through. Prayers to EVERYONE involved. Rest easy brother...we got it.

Read more: Police Officer James "Jim" Davies, Lakewood Police Department, ColoradoPolice Officer Jim Davies was shot and killed in a friendly fire incident while securing the scene of a crime.
Lakewood officers were responding to a prowler call near West 20th Avenue and Eaton Street when they heard gunfire coming from a house on Eaton Street. The officers took three subjects into custody after one man was observed firing a handgun in front of the house. As multiple officers worked to secure the perimeter of the house Officer Davies was mistaken for an assailant and was fatally shot by another officer. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Officer Davies served with the Lakewood Police Department for six and one half years and was assigned to the Special Enforcement Team. He is survived by his wife and two young children."If anything worthwhile comes of this tragedy, it should be the realization by every citizen that often the only thing that stands between them and losing everything they hold dear... is the man wearing a badge." -- Ronald Reagan, in the wake of the deaths of 4 CHP troopers in the Newhall Incident, 1970

Rest In Peace my Brother. May God grant you eternal rest and may He also look over your family and grant them peace now, in their most extreme moment of sorrow.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

A tragedy indeed. Prayers for all involved.
Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me
