Constable Dale Geddie was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call with a deputy from the Smith County Sheriff's Department.
The male subject opened fire on both officers, fatally wounding Constable Geddie and wounding the deputy.
The suspect barricaded himself in the home for several hours before being shot and killed by other officers as he emerged from the home holding a firearm.
Constable Geddie had served as the elected constable for Precinct 4 for 6 months, and had previously served as a deputy for the Smith County Sheriff's Department. He is survived by his wife, son, and stepson.
