Louisiana officer ambushed
I am posting to inform all members of the law enforcement family that on 6/16/06 Our dept. lost the commander of our narcotics division and the assistant commander of our swat team. Capt Octavio Gonzalez was not only my supervisior but my friend. Capt. Gonzalez had been called at home after one of his narcotics officers had been shot in the leg while attempting to conduct a traffic stop. Shortly after his arrival in the area the subjects were spotted nearby. Capt. Gonzalez was ambushed my the male suspect and was shot three times. The details of his death are still not completly clear at this time. The suspects a male and female were caught later following a stand off that involved hundreds of officers.
Capt. Gonzalez was a 14 year veteran of the St. John Parish Sheriff Office.
Capt. Gonzalez leaves behind a wife and two young sons.
Please pray for Capt. Gonzalez's family during this time as well as Det. Monty Adams the Officer shot in the leg he is doing well and is recovering at home.

Rest in peace, Captain Gonzalez. Best wishes to his family in this difficult time.

Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!
