If there is a department fundraiser or anything like that to help offset the medical expenses please let me know. Give them our love from their brothers and sisters in blue. Keep in mind the rookie might need a little extra help in dealing with it, especially if she was driving (false feelings of guilt.)
Its tough to see your collegues in a position like that. Just let them know you, and the rest of us, are here to help if needed.
