Pennsylvania Officer Fatally Struck By Vehicle
COOPERSBURG, Pa.-- An Upper Saucon Township Police Officer died after being struck by a vehicle on Route 309 Thursday morning.
Officials said Officer David Petzold was attempting to remove a deceased deer that was partially blocking the roadway near Route 309 and Passer Road in Coopersburg when he was hit by a van.
He was flown to the trauma center at Lehigh Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
PennDOT reports that Route 309 is closed between Coopersburg Borough and Station Avenue while State Police investigate the scene.
