What a dumbass. He deserves to be fired. He could have killed someone.
Looks like he hit the accelerator too hard and / or didn't turn sharp enough. OSHA would have a field day with this one. Also, the racks don't appear strong enough for the weight they have to support. I have nudged barriers and racks in my career but I was barely moving. I hope the warehouse was well ventilated. These appear to be propane powered forklifts. We use electric battery ones where I work.
Forklifts are not toys. They need to be treated with respect and care. I wonder if the driver was licensed by OSHA to drive one. Did he get it out of a crackerjack box or vending machine? We have to be licensed every three years just like as we would to drive a car on a public roadway. If involved in an accident or collision where there is significant property damage or injury we lose our license for a period of time and have to get a drug test. Also there is an investigation conducted as to how this could have been avoided. This is way beyond significant damage in my opinion. The ones I use at work weigh close to 10,000 lbs with battery. Always be careful when using heavy machinery. The life you save may be your own.
