Talking You know you're a cop when....

....your wife knows to go to a table that places your back to a wall with a view of the door when you go out to eat.

...on night shift, the world is your bathroom.

If someone says uh oh the cops are here for so and so when you show up you feel an unbelievable urge to head shoot the person saying it.

When someone asks, "What's the worst that could happen?" you make their eyes get really big with your answer.

Who is that knocking at the door? Well I'll be damned if it isn't the cynic in me.

    Duck and cover.

How about that you seriously want to deck the next person that says "I didn't do it." when you walk into a room?

Or the next person that introduces you by your profession when you are in a mixed crowd and off duty?

Nope. If I don't know them I calmly say let me see your ID and we'll find out if you did it. When they try to laugh it off I say no really I need some ID.

Along the same lines as Pudge (and a true story):
You and your night crew shift mates get kicked out of one of the guys house by his angry wife when she returns home from work to pick up a forgotten item one morning and finds you and the guys watching cartoons and drinking beer.

Yup. She walked in the door, smiled, said hi to everybody and went to the bedroom. A minute later she sweetly called out "Scott, can you come back here just a second?" He went to the bedroom and came back out about 2 min later looking like a whipped puppy. "Y'all have to leave now." We did.

Your mom knows to get a table in the back of the restaurant so you can see both doors and have your back to the wall. The first time I did that she looked at me puzzled and I said I'll explain to you later. When I did explain it to her, she thought I was nuts. But now she just goes along with the program and doesn't complain.

When you run through the fast food place and realize that most of the employees are people you have arrested in the past. You then have second thoughts about eating any food they prepared....
