That noise brings back memories - My first modem was 300 baud, the type where you set the phone receiver on it after you dialed the number manually.

My first was 1200 baud, back in '91. I used it to call into campus VAX/VMS for access to BITNET. Those were the days. I remember how sad I was when AOL opened their gateways and polluted the Internet.

I remember dial up. I was fasicnated at the naked pictures that took 10 minutes to download.

I'm still not allowed in that Library

The ones on the newsgroups took like 40 minutes, because you had to combine 30 or 40 messages to get a photo. Sometimes it was worth the wait, sometimes it wasn't
