Pooooor shoplifter
Augusta, GA
Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia, told police
he observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta,
on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket.
When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a
knife and ran for the door.
Outside on the sidewalk were four Marines collecting toys for the "Toys for Tots" program.
Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of the Marines,
Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back, the injury did not appear to be severe.
After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene Cpl. Duggan was transported
for treatment.
The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms,
a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs,
multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw...
injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing the Marine.

I remember when this happened, it was just before Christmas last year. Sadly, the scrote's injuries weren't all that severe.
Here's a link to a follow-up story. Bond is denied in Black Friday stabbing | The Augusta Chronicle
After a re-read, there are quite a few inaccuracies. Here's the real story. http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/me...ded-heroic-act
A Marine stabbed while collecting Toys for Tots said he thought of all the people inside Best Buy on crowded Black Friday when he tried to intercept a fleeing shoplifter.
"After we got him to the ground, and we got the knife away from him, I felt a pinch on my back," said Cpl. Phillip Duggan.
Only then did Duggan, a 2004 graduate of Cross Creek High School, realize he'd suffered a knife wound. His reaction?
"I can't believe he messed up my uniform," Duggan said.
The Marine reservist, who is currently on active duty, has been presented a new dress blouse by the North Augusta Marine Corps League so he can continue his assignment, which is serving at Marine Corps funerals.
...
Duggan acknowledged Monday that Marines are a "band of brothers" and that he wasn't acting alone when he, Cpl. William Washington, Sgt. Joshua Aurelio and Gunnery Sgt. Robert Ritchie took down a Waynesboro, Ga., man who'd just escaped from Best Buy security -- and had a knife.
Tracey Attaway, the alleged shoplifter, remained in the Richmond County jail Monday on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

Hmmmm, didn't realize it actually happened.
Was e-mailed to me as a joke, and figgered it was too good to not pass on - - especially for us old Jarheads.
Heck the fact that it actually happened makes it that much sweeter.

Yeah, it happened in my area. A lot of us around here got a chuckle out of it once we realized the Marine was going to be OK.
