It backfired on her.
This is a true story, involving one of my friends who is just a little shady.
This gal is a young single mom, who was involved in a custody battle with her ex. He hired a private investigator to follow her around, but made the mistake of blabbing about it. The PI follows her to a local bar one Saturday night, and she makes him. She was a pretty quick thinker, so she called the police, gave a description of the PI and his van. She tells the dispatcher that this guy is a child molester and she thinks he has warrants. She figured that while he is being detained for investigation she can cruise.
The cops arrive, get the guy out of the van just as she is pulling away (she thought it was a clean getaway with no tail). This PI had done his homework; he found that her license was suspended. After he identified himself and stated his purpose, he flipped the script on her. He gave a young rookie the vehicle info and he ended up stopping her about a mile away.
She went to jail, the PI went home and filed his report and the ex got full custody.
I do give her credit, though; this was a good plan, but it backfired.'The Art of War' teaches us to "Rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's coming, but on our own readiness to receive him"--Sun Tsu
