Why is LEF running so slow lately,especialy if replying to a post,I hit submit post and go get a beer,if I am on a roll ,well lets just say I dont know if my liver can take it much longer.and it isnt my puter because all other forums run fine,not the time of day cause I just started nights and at one point there were like only 10 people on here.

And I was thinking it was just me and my system. It has been really slow, maybe a mouse is chewing through some wires at Brads while he is spooning with his new teddy bear!!!!

It's been slow for me too. This site has always been slower than other sites, but it's been especially slow in the past month or so.

Yep. Slow on this side of the Atlantic too. Slower than Beans trying to spell Mississippi! Or even worse, trying to pronounce Edinburgh.

Its an issue with out ISP that we are working out now. We are also looking at moving to another server.

This slowdown seemed to happen a few months ago suddenly - Was it after a lot of new users signed up or something?

You may try doubling or tripling the Web & Database server's memory, since memory sticks are so cheap these days. That may fix as many problems as moving it to a faster server.

It almost acts like a database table or page locking issue, since it often runs into a delay when posting messages.

We have database servers driving our web site, which were lacking memory & didn't have the locking & indexing tuned very well... it may be that a lot of people are trying to update & view the same group of data records at the same time, and sometimes databases respond by locking even more rows than is necessary to conserve memory by reducing the number of locks, and making each lock cover more records. - thus causing the updaters to lock many viewers out who are viewing totally different pages, as well locking out other updaters who in turn lock out other viewers, until the first updates are completed.

I don't know what type of database server vBulletin uses, but this is pretty common in Microsoft SQL Server when we suddenly get a lot more users, unless the software and database force row locking to prevent escalliting it to Page Locking or Table Locking. Database tuning is almost an art, one that I have only limited success in solving sometimes.

It always appears slow to me, but I think that's because I have ruined my computer by looking at thousands upon thousands of hours of pornography. My hard drive is rotted out like an old-ass tree stump.

Maybe we should take up an upgrade the server collection. The costs of being able to support this much band width has got to be more than they are taking in.
Well is it?? If its run by cops, the budget has to be tight
