Opening Threads
I am all for "Amber Alerts" but I am getting frustrated at having to read it everytime I sellect a link. When I opt to read a link it opens with the notice scolling across the middle of my page and I have to manually scroll up to the top of the page to begin reading the threads. Is this something unique to my computer or is it a design of the site?

That doesn't happen to me--I don't see Amber Alerts anywhere on this forum, even though there's a small amber alert on the bottom of the front page. O/R doesn't have any pop-ups of any kind. I think you have spyware from another site. Try cleaning your computer out with an anti-spyware program like Windows Defender (free from Bill Gates). http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...r/default.mspx

You're not seeing an Amber Alert from us unless it's the small one you see at the bottom of our main page. You have issues on your PC not related to O/R.

Sounds like a browser issue. Join the 21st Century: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

It does it on my computer too Papa.
What he's referring to, is when clicking a thread, it opens up at the and shows the bottom of the page where the little amber alert java script is. You then have to scroll back up the page to read the thread, or post a response.
This happens on both my desktop and laptop, as well as the three department computers I've opened the site on.
For example, when I clicked on "Rookie Resources," this is how the page loads:

As Term mentioned, that is a local computer issue and not an OR issue.
It's called "stealing focus" and is a local computer settting.I'm your huckleberry...

Are all of them using internet explorer and if so is it version 7?
I can duplicate the issue with IE7 but not with firefox or even older versions of of internet explorer.
MS IE7 and now IE8 can act strange with some sites
But it is the browser not the web site.

I use IE7 presently and do not have the issue.

Okay, so you say I don't see an "Amber Alert" Fine! Now, can you kindly inform me how I can get the issue cleared up? The issue of every link opening at the bottom of the page where I cannot see the amber alert?
That is, without ceasing to visit the O/R forums! That would certainly clear the issue but it is not my desire or intent.Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.

On one of the computers I use, it will do that. I get away from that by selecting a link to open in a new tab/window. That's what I do anyways. That's using firefox.

All my threads on this site open at and begin at the bottom also. I do have the most update on Java and it didn't make a difference.
