Forum Idea
Here is the idea:
I think a forum with recent court decisions (especially Supreme Court Rulings) relating to Law Enforcement would be top notch. The discussions from court decisions could be a positive for the site. Especially with a public and verified sub category.
What do you as the site membership think about this idea both pro and con? LET US KNOW BY POSTING IN THIS THREAD.

I think its a great idea. I love reading court decisions and how they affect our job. Sometimes I miss some when they get posted in General or wherever and it would be nice to have them all in one place.

Outstanding idea Five-O. You would be doing some of us a real service. The state of Washington prints a monthly newsletter which covers all of this states appeals and supreme court cases for law enforcement only. Maclean can get it here and I suspect many other states do something similar. A judicious selection of U.S. Supreme Court Cases as well as state level cases would be a real treasure trove for new and inexperienced officers as well as a way to stay current for senior offices.

Sounds like a great idea!
Any bets on how many posts Maclean would make in such a forum?

That is what I'm talking about Car 4. I would want it to be a place used a source for roll call meetings at each of our agencies. One place to find good information related to court decisions. Sweeping Supreme Court decisions as stickys at the top. It would truely be an "officer resource".

I think it's a great idea for the verified area. When decisions like the one in Kansas came out there's going to be discussion of tactics and changes in our procedures and that's best kept to a private area I think. They can of course be posted in news or general topics in the public area too but I don't think there's a need for cataloging them and tracking them (appeals, upheld, overturned etc) like there would be in the verified area.

I love it. In Service training comes around once a year for that. This would give members a head start.

I think it's a very good idea. Keeping current is a never ending battle.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
