Just curious - why does it show that I'm online when I dont think I am?

I use a different computer at lunch and when I got to OR, it showed that I was already on in the list of users. Now, my cookie is not logged out at the primary computer I use at work, but my IE is closed. So, I was just curious why it seems to be showing that I'm online before I logged in. Or, is it not and I'm just confused?

Probably because you never logged out, closing your browser does not necessarily log you out.

If you don't log out the system waits for a certain amount of inactivity before it shows you off line. I don't know what the inactivity timer here is.

I have noticed MySpace does this too. I will know someone logged out but it still shows them online for a few minutes.

It didnt do it today. It must have been the inactivity time out thing. Or, I'm just losing my mind (quite possible,

Yep yep. If you are watching the server, you can tell when someone clicks 'log off,' vs. just closing their browser and not closing the instance of being logged in.

At least thats how it is with the stuff I work with...dunno about here
