The Holding Cell
My suggestion:
Change board settings so that The Holding Cell does not appear on the New Posts feature. I'm not really interested with messing with trolls once they've been branded and put in there, although I know that others do. My point is, out of sight, out of mind. Once I know someone is a troll, I just prefer not to read them. It's a bit annoying though when the first 5 new posts to be read are in Holding Cell threads. I think that overall, the forum has a set of people that know it's there and will check on it on their own anyhow. I just don't see a need for it in the New Posts feature.
My .02"If anything worthwhile comes of this tragedy, it should be the realization by every citizen that often the only thing that stands between them and losing everything they hold dear... is the man wearing a badge." -- Ronald Reagan, in the wake of the deaths of 4 CHP troopers in the Newhall Incident, 1970
The opinions given in my posts DO NOT reflect the opinions, views, policies, and/or procedures of my employing agency. They are my personal opinions only, thereby releasing my agency of any liability, or involvement in anything posted under the username "121Traffic" on O/R.

Seems rather pointless to even have the holding cell, as anyone who is bad enough to be in there usually ends up banned anyhow.

It's there so you can abuse them freely without cluttering up an otherwise useful thread. We only ban them once they've been sufficiently abused or start up another user name.

I suggest we find a higher quality of troll. Lately the trolls seem quite... well, bland. I can't even understand what they're saying enough to sufficently abuse them. It just doesn't seem worth the effort.
Secondly, I suggest TOS for the Holding Cell be stricter than it is for the rest of the board. I mean, where's the challenge in posting "F**K OFF, MORON!" in giant bolded letters? I would rather cut them a thousand times with razor sharp wit than simply club them with mindless profanity.
That's all I got to say."Look, just give me some inner peace or I'll mop the floor with you!"

That's why I like the dummies from pot smoking sites, who think they have a clear and concise argument and present it rationally. Even if it is flawed logic. The 12 year old kids who come on and talk about killing cops are just a waste of air.

Sometimes a troll is created to liven up a forum. I'm not interested in participating in abusing anyone so I won't be replying in those threads.

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

I never read anything in this area, because I would be tempted to post. Then I always remember, "it is as foolish to argue with a fool as it is to fight the wind". Don't remember where I saw this, but always remembered it. Might be from Proverbs.

David Carradine said that in an episode of "Kung Fu".
