Whats Your Thoughts on a Chat Room?

I noticed the site runs off of vbulletin which I thought had add-on chat software. I know Invision Power Board does - of course changing software is short of brain surgery and I wouldnt wish that upon anybody (changing software not brain surgery - unless the surgery is needed then ........

.

Anywho - Im not to keen on the idea. Other boards that I visit have live chat and I dont think I have ever used it. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

I am for a chatroom. It's a place to unwind at the end of the day,or just talk with someone that has the same interests as you. Have it open to everyone at the beginning. Set a cutoff time for it to close, then just for supporting members. This way people will see if they like it and then become supporting members.

I don't use IMs as a generalr rule.

On some forums I go to we usually have a BS thread where we'll post immeditaley after one another.

It would be nice to have a Chat room available rather than load up on threads that are meant for one person.

"This forum requires that you wait 20 seconds between searches. Please try again in 14 seconds." I've never seen a limit on searches before.

I try not to talk about other sites while posting. I am for the Chat Room. It ends alot of the small talk and chatter that is on the boards. I chat on two boards and it is a great way to unwind and talk to people about your day. I have seen numerous people get great advice who would never post a thread for all to see. Most Police chat rooms have no more than 10 people on at a given time. People wait for some to leave to talk to the ones that help them,or PM the person. They police the board on thier own.Trolls seldom come on. Members only slows down the trolls.

I think it would be a great addition to this site. I know I'm knew but, sometimes it helps to look at it from another prospective.

Um, at the top of the screen on the toolbar just below the logo image there's a button that says "Chat Room" click on it, it'll bring a drop down menu, then go to "Enter Chat Room."
