Another forum I frequent had the whole thing crash because of tapatalk. The servers got a virus from it from what I understand. Hasn't had a problem yet since he removed the tapatalk feature.

Reca and I have talked about this. The developers are really responsive and the bug/hacker issues mentioned have been taken care of. And they were resolved quickly. It will have to be something that gets done when money can be spent to have it installed on our forum end. Maybe during a future site upgrade.

Any thing else on this? From what I can see on their website adding Tapatalk support to the forums is free, unless I misread it.

The drawbacks are the other users have to be using the same app. From what I understand, the app records you and saves it as a file which it sends to the recipient. The app then plays it for the user. It's using your data plan.
This was developed when Android data plans were unlimited and voice/SMS plans were expensive. So this would save you from using your voice plan to talk.
Now, data is getting expensive with tiered plans. Voice/SMS are generally cheap and not too bad for unlimited. So using your data plan to communicate might not be as wise as it used to be.
My experience is that it was also laggy. YMMVThat which does not kill me, better start fucking running.

It's used on another forum where I'm on staff. We haven't had any problems. It's pretty user friendly and supports a lot of features and content. I'd be for seeing it used here, were you to ask my opinion. Much more user friendly than the mobile skin that currently comes up.

Any more word on this? The add-on is free for the forum owner, and I use this app all the time on my android phone. I use it primarily with ADVRider.com which is a HUGE forum (just checked, 3800 users logged on right now). AFAIK they haven't had any problems with it.
I checked and it is compatible with VBulletin 3.8.4The truth is you're the weak, and I am the tyranny of evil men.

I really have not looked to much more into this. With all the smartphones I know a lot of people like viewing sites as a webpage.
I can look more into it around the first of the year. We are doing a lot of maintenance and upgrades to our server so this will have to be looked at after we take care of business.Check your feelings at the door!

Thanks. There are some cool features (image uploads hosted by tapatalk, list of recently posted in threads, etc) I find very useful.

I don't care either way. Saw Tapatalk is free over at GetJar (alternative Android apps store like Amazon, AppBrain, etc so you'll have to go into "settings" "applications" and check "unknown sources" for it to install) currently as one of their 'Gold' free apps for anyone wondering what this thing is all about, but not three dollar curious, to kick the tires for free.
GetJar Wiki entry for those who have never heard of this outfit. They have a good reputation, mostly from the Blackberry days, I'm just suspicious of everyone, doubly so for those handing out free software. Developers are happy to put their stuff there, that's the confidence I invested in.
