While no one has as yet completely broken down the voting demographics, I'll throw you this bone:

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2026859/posts

... and challenge you to google for yourself the vast numbers of articles on Republican crossover voters in this past election. In some States, 9% of registered Republicans went for Obama, while preliminary data shows as many as 20% crossed over in others. If you do not call that a 'problem' for McCain, remember that Obama only garnered 53% of the vote to McCain's 46%, and historically conservative States that should have been a 'shoe-in' for McCain, like Minnesota and Iowa, were taken by narrow margins by Obama as well.

It was the undecideds...the "Swing Vote", if you will. That's why Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida all went Obama. And it was Palin who helped to swing those votes to the left.
PA and FL were going to be slugfests. Florida was the defining factor in the 2001 race, (remember? When your lib buddies swore the election was 'stolen' by the 'hanging chad' debacle?) Many conservatives just didn't vote. They would have, if there had been someone for them to more closely relate to.

and I don't hate conservatives, CB. I love you guys! I've said it before and I'll say it again: the differences between me and a guy like you (who is a poliitically conservative voter) and a guy like my brother (who is as left as left gets without comitting treason) is very simple. We just have differences in political opinion. That is all.
True conservatives and liberals vastly disagree on nearly every point of governing philosophy, and that is reflective of the diametric opposition of their belief system. Liberals further routinely detest every principle of the right, yet when they are (rarely) called on it, they all digress. When my conservative back is turned, I'm an ignorant, sexist, racist, arrogant, self-righteous homophobe, but when we go eye to eye, they are just perpetually victimized, and I am always the perpetrator of the victimization of the down-trodden. It reminds me of civil rights court.

I think it should be run one way, you think another and my brother thinks another. I don't think political conservatives are dumb or are inherently evil, and I certainly don't hate them.
Palin is a political conservative, so was Quayle, for that matter. Both were painted as abject idiots by the media over second and third-hand rumors and momentary gaffes. Bush has been utterly vllified by the left, and was all-but abandoned by the right, yet I'm willing to lay bet of my next Obama tax cut that history will certainly prove him right on foreign policy, just as basic fact has proven him right thus far.

Fine, CB. You're right. You know exactly what's in my head. I talk shit about you behind your back because you're a republican. Even though I profess to respect you on this forum, I really think you're dumbshit. Geez.

I undeleted this post. I reversed the site staff action on it. I understand your point, and that this was said in sarchastic frustration. Your eyes were rolling as you typed it. I know this, because I know enough about you Bob. We've bantered on this forum enough for me to know that you get frustrated with me, but never to the point of losing your cool. You also know that I won't ever hide behind titles or positions. If you think I'm a sonovabitch, I respect you more to say it than to whisper it. Who knows, one sonovabitch to another, I might buy you a drink with my Obamafied tax cut windfall one day...

My response to you is simple, and I'll just close with it. We've chased one another around the boards enough on this topic:

Nah, its not all just you, Bob. It is the entire mindset of the left that creates such a rectal irritation for me.

The entire hypocritical pandering, mongering, fingerpointing, elitist, votebuying, socialist, tax-loving, despotism, demagoguery, and ignorance of all natural law. Its the 'if you don't vote for Obama, you're a racist', hype-filled 'coming of the messiah mantra.' Its the 'zombamafication' of America. Before there was this, it was the look in the eyes of a Commander-in-chief who shook his finger at the American people and said, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinski..." (all while a 30+ year career non-com in the Army lost his pension for NOT lying about consensual infidelity).

Its the abject refusal of people to see the forest for the trees. Its the frustration and incredulity that the Rezkos, the Franks, the Ayers, the Wrights, the Jacksons, the Pelosis, the Rasheedis, the Farrakhans, and the Sharptons of this world are succeeding at the expense of the working-class backbone of this nation. Its the "Penny-the-Moocher" mentality, and those who sponsor it. It is being told that my hard work and devotion to the wellbeing of my family is subject to government intrusion, so that those who care not are provided for. It is the damnation of success and the embracing of failure. It is the outright rejection of the rule of law, and the creation of laws to circumvent the law. It is the hatred of patriotism, and the love of treason. It is the presidential pardon of cop-killers, and the incarceration of the justified.

It is seeing heroes villified, and villiains exhalted. It is seeing human life no longer valued, and this country's dignity constantly assaulted. It is watching the leadership of this country change from fighting terrorism into literal philosophical agreement with those who invite death upon us. It is watching in disgust as the Democrats power-monger over funding the men and women in harm's way overseas, and hearing it live, as spouted by Mary Landrieu on the Senate floor. Its knowing that they play with the military like pawns, whose very souls are in peril so that she may spew her well-coached fatcat liberal venom, and the Dems can angle to sieze power.

That is what tears at the fibers of this country, Bob. Its not racism. Its not conservatism, its not you, nor I. It is the hopeless feeling that we are spinning out of control.

    So there. I said it.
