    George W. Bush's Top 10 Dumbest Moments

George W. Bush’s adventures in the White House are soon coming to an end. The “decider” will soon pack up his cowboy boots and head back home to Texas. He leaves office with a litany of problems, including two unfinished wars and a country in the midst of a catastrophic economic crisis. He may be a deeply unpopular president, but he was always good for a laugh. Love him or hate him, George W. Bush was hugely entertaining.

    10. Food on Americans

    Food on Your Family

As a presidential candidate, George W. Bush was prone to gaffes. In Nashua, New Hampshire on January 27th, 2000 he spoke at a campaign rally and said "You're working hard to put food on your family." I wonder what family dinners are like at the Bush house. Does everyone line up and wait for Barbara or Laura to start smothering everyone with food? Even with an error like this, he still managed to get “elected.”
    9. Bush Massages German Chancellor

    Bush Massages German Chancellor

In 2006, George W. Bush attended a G8 summit meeting in Germany along with other world leaders. In the middle of the meeting he decided that Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel, needed a back rub. He sauntered over to the German leader and started massaging her shoulders and neck. Merkel immediately hunched her shoulders, threw her arms up in the air and looked terribly uncomfortable. Bush strolled away and bloggers screamed sexual harassment.
    8. Bush Attacked by Camera

    Bush's Surprise

President Bush was in the middle of a press conference “sharing his thoughts on what he was thinking about” when a camera came unstuck and started swinging in front of Bush’s face. Bush looked at it totally confused. The moment perfectly captured how the Commander in Chief handles an unexpected situation.
    7. Bush Swears

    Bush Swears!

At the same G8 summit where he man-handled German Chancellor Angelina Merkel, Bush faced a barrage of criticism for uttering a swear word in a private conversation with British Prime Minister, Tony Blair. Bush was unaware he was being recorded when he explained his plan for peace in the Middle East. He told Blair “What they need to do is get Syria to get Hizbollah to stop doing this sh*t, and it's over." It’s not the worst swear word in the book, but it's hardly eloquent and very unpresidential.
    6. Bush's New Ways to Harm the Country

Bush: New Ways to Harm the Country

During Bush’s campaign for a second term he inadvertently suggested that his administration was plotting new ways to harm the United States. While signing a bill for defense spending Bush said, "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." He certainly delivered on that promise.

    5. Bush's Exit Strategy

    Bush's Exit Strategy

It’s common knowledge that Bush has a disdain for press conferences. He rarely held them and when he did they were usually brief. In 2005, Bush tried to make a quick exit from a press conference in Beijing. After answering only 6 questions and getting snappy with a journalist, Bush headed towards a set of double doors. He tugged at them a few times, only to find them locked. He awkwardly looked around, gave his best deer-in-the-headlight look, and had to be escorted out by an aide.
    4. Is Our Childrens Learning?

    Is Our Children Learning

President Bush would be the first to admit that he was only an average student who was more interested in partying than learning. When he was running for president he famously said, “Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?" Years later, when he was president, he answered his own question - "Childrens do learn." Bush’s speaking ability proves that anyone can grow up and be president… even if you have only a basic understanding of the English language.
    3. President Bush Dances

    President Bush Dances!

At the beginning of 2008, President Bush visited Africa. In Liberia, the final leg of the tour, he found some people who actually liked him and expressed his appreciation through a kooky, strange and culturally insensitive dance.
    2. Bush Wants OB-GYNs to Spread the Love

Bush: OB-GYNs Should Spread the Love...

In 2004, Bush was campaigning for a second term and talking about health reform. He told a crowd that frivolous lawsuits were the reason that: "Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country." The idea of this is just scary!
    1. Bush's Old Saying

Fool Me Once George W. Bush

Bush’s most famous bushism occurred in 2002 when he addressed a fundraiser in Nashville, Tennessee. He told the crowd "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." It was excruciatingly embarrassing as Bush struggled and squirmed to find the correct words. You could see the cogs in his brain working over time. Then he stopped, moved on, and the rest is history.
No other president in history has caused more laughter or late night talk show jokes than Bush. His way with words, his awkward folksiness, and his physical stumbles will forever be remembered.

The author of that article is f**king moron. The only "dumb" moments he could find were clearly what they showed him on MTV. I think signing the PATRIOT act would have to be up there- ya know, as opposed to doing some kind of dance.

As far as I know, the only agency to misuse it was the FBI. And who's surprised about that. And the fact we haven't had any more significant attacks on this country says a lot. Of all the things that annoy me about government, that's not on the list.

I'm just making the point that- arguably- Bush has made tons of more serious blunders. But the author of the article has to make it digestiable to the MTV crowd.

And it's the mere fact that the PATRIOT Act can be misused makes it wrong. There's no checks and balances.

Yes, Big. Helpful tool. So would doing away with the Bill of Rights. Doesn't make it okay.

Cops or anyone with power can abuse their authority. It happens all the time. Hell, city ordinances can be abused by a cop in a small town...... There are probably more checks and balances in the federal system than there are in some 1 horse towns with it's own municipal judge and three cops. I know of several little towns around me that use their police and one judge municipal court as ATM's.

Those of us who are able to experience laughter are certainly indebted to Mr. Bush for helping defend our lives and livelihoods so that the events of September 11th, 2001 have not been repeated. I remember how laughter died that day when terror became reality.

Oh, I get it. It didn't effect me personally (yet) so it's okay. Gun control laws didn't impact me personally, so I should just let them be in place, too. Let's see, what else... segregation, sufferage, slavery. If these were re-instituted in our country they wouldn't impact me negatively, either. So what the hell, right?

    Is that really your argument?

Really? That's your argument? We're not talking about an inanimate object, Big. We're talking about a law that gives the government the right to use force against me without due process as protected by the Constitution. Do I really need to explain this to you?

How about some examples? All warrants, etc still have to be approved by a panel of judges. The only abuse I've read about is when it was first enacted and the FBI used it against in some criminal cases rather that terrorist.

You're really vague in your accusations. I'm not saying you're wrong, you might know something the rest of us don't. But so far you've said nothing concrete. If you give us some examples of where the government has abused it and taken away rights, etc., then we can have an intelligent discussion.

Yes please explain the law to me and how it has been abused, I guess Im in the dark about it. I was under the impression that it is to protect the USA from terrorism, both foreign and domestic. Can you show how and where it has been used to; "gives the government the right to use force against me without due process as protected by the Constitution"

Im aware that the FBI abused it to begin with but its my understanding that those situations were dealt with and fixed.

If you show the law and the abuses then we can discuss it, I must be in the dark on what you are referring to.

... and you still haven't remotely supported this point, nor have you shown where elements of the Patriot Act have been used to injure the American people in any significant way.

You're wholehearted agreement with the ACLU, and the allegations made by this video duly noted, I still would humbly request that you explain to me how the Patriot Act, by its design, (and more specifically the President's signing of it), was 'dumb', considering the real and present danger posed to the American people by international terrorist organizations.

Nice try, but a 'black helicopter' video just doesn't carry your claim.

Yeah, we all know wacky that PBS reporting is. I showed you evidence. It's up to you whether or not you want to keep your head in the sand.
