What are your thoughts? Does Obama have a hard time surrounding himself with good people? Does anyone have a problem with this?

I do.
I am sick of all of the racism flying around about this inauguration. So friggin what he is half black, half white? He is a liberal. I have plenty to dislike based solely on that. Just because I am sick at my stomach when I think of him as POTUS, it does not make me a racist! He is an inexperienced, corrupt, socialist for whom I have no positive feelings."The inherent vice of Capitalism is the unequal sharing of its blessings; the inherent vice of Socialism is the equal sharing of its miseries." -Winston Churchill

What you didn't know that EVERY white person in the world is racist and solely exist to oppress the black man and keep him down??
It seems that in this day and age anything that goes against what any black person thinks then its racist. It has gotten worse in the last few years. Maybe by having a black president it will change for the better but I think it will only get worse. When Barack doesn't do everything for the black man then he too will be labeled as a racist, just watch."An Unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it." Having read many blogs across the vast set of tubes, I am coming to realize just how racist many black people are. Although I do realize internet muscles are huge, still these people would be relegated to the KKK likes if they were white. The most ignorant, ill-informed, racist, etc. things have been said supporting this reverends words. There is, IMNSHO, no other way to interpret the guys words other than to say that White people should now accept that the black man has control.
I have seen comments stating that finally the white slave owners are going to get their due, all white people are going to now become poor to see what it has been like for "them" for so long, and the like. I thought my head was going to explode for a second. Do these people actually not realize that many of their problems come from their own culture and race? The most detrimental thing to black people over the last quarter century or so is black people themselves. Hip hop culture advocates violence against women, cops, and other black people mostly. In the lower class neighborhoods, the ones committing the crime against black people are other black people. Comedians joke about it, citizens of the black community support it, but it is all the white people's fault.
The truly sad part is that many people actually believe this guy is going to fix the entire country single-handedly and that their worries are now behind them.
Hopefully I don't offend anyone with this post, but damnit it felt good to get it out"The inherent vice of Capitalism is the unequal sharing of its blessings; the inherent vice of Socialism is the equal sharing of its miseries." -Winston Churchill

I understand the "spirit" in which he meant his speech. It probably would have been profound 50 years ago. The guy's older than dirt.
I do resent the "When white will embrace what is right" comment. That would suggest me, simply because I'm white, am not doing what is right. If I made such a declaration about blacks publicly, I would be drawn and quartered."If everyone is thinking alike, then someone isn't thinking." -Gen. George S. Patton

That clip was the first inauguration coverage that I've had a chance to see so far today. It made me sad and I think it was inappropriate and offensive. What made it worse is that he's supposed to be a man of God.
What makes me sadder is the thought process that too many blacks seem to have about the changes that they feel Obama will make. I had a conversation about this with a friend (who is black) last night - she supported Obama and I did not, but we both agree that those blacks out there who think that his presidency is going to change their lives tomorrow are insanely removed from reality and are in for a harsh awakening. I can't believe that there are so many people out there who believe that this man will wave his hand and the streets will be paved with gold.
I've seen many of the same ignorant comments that Ryan mentioned and I've also seen ignorant comments from people afraid of what having a "black" man as president will mean for our country - not what this Democratic president will mean, but a black man (everyone seems to forget that he's half white).
It scares me that there are so many members of each race who buy into the stereotypes of the other, seeing no individuality.
I don't know, we as a people still have a long way to go before we can comfortably and truly look beyond race and embrace people for who they are.
Sorry, I kind of went off on a bit of a tangent there.

I would also like to hear comments from other ethnicities also. The "when Yellow becomes Mellow" was bizarre also.

I have known Joe Lowery for 15 years. He used to not be like this. I believe that he is mentally ill and his handlers parade him out whenever they charge someone to hear him speak.
I knew he lost it when he told a room full of black parents that they were racisits for wanting the almost all black school board removed from office.
I find it really sad because Joseph Lowery has done great things for this country.Last edited by Norm357; 01-21-09 at 05:33 AM. Reason: I can't spell. Leave me alone about it.

Truly a rascist diatribe that I hope doesn't set the tone for the next 4 years. It seems the only people that want to keep the race issue alive are the liberals. They seem to forget that Obama didn't "grow-up Black."

It is shameful when a spokesperson is singled out to seemingly speak against an entire race of people. I harbor no ill feelings toward any person simply due to their race. I am often times embarassed and sickened by the conduct of all "civilized" persons. Including some particular incidents involving people of my skin color.
This type of video is nothing new. I've heard similar view points spew from the mouths of persons both black and white. I hear whites speak ill of blacks here all the time. It disgusts me. It disgusts the person saying it to me when I inform them "Yo bro I don't get down like that." "Ya heard me?" The only reason I am not called out about it is because people here know I'm not scared to make a stand. My outward and public racial view point is not popular with a lot of people.
The only reason these comments are prevalent is because it was done on the day the black president president was sworn in. I wonder if these comments are just as important even though it wasn't spewed in Washington?
