Rep. Bill Young: Wanna shut down Guantanamo Bay. Fine. Send Guantanamo Bay Detainees to Pelosi’s District
A senior House Republican has suggested a secure location for the detainees now held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba — Speaker Nancy Pelosi ’s district in San Francisco.
“Alcatraz would be a good place to put these people,’’ said Rep. C.W. Bill Young of Florida, ranking Republican on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
“There’s a lot of discomfort about the idea of bringing the detainees in to the United States. That’s why I’ve suggested Alcatraz,” said Young, referring to the now abandoned, infamous prison island in San Francisco Bay.
Young said he had not discussed the idea with Pelosi, D-Calif., but he did suggest it to Gregory Craig, President’s Obama’s lawyer, during a briefing Craig gave to senior House Republicans Wednesday concerning Obama’s plans for shutting down the detainee center at the U.S. military facility in Cuba.
Obama on Thursday issued an executive order calling for a shutdown of Gitmo within a year.
Alcatraz Island, nicknamed “the rock,” served as the location of a military prison until it was converted to a federal prison in the 1930s. It was shut down in the 1963, but reopened as a national recreation area and tourist attraction in 1972.

How about if we compromise and send Pelosi to Guantanamo Bay. One speech given in her screeching voice would produce better intelligence than waterboarding. She would probably cause several of the detainees to commit suicide to escape her whinny tirades thereby solving two problems at the same time.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

In my opinion, we should just hold tribunals and get the thing over with. If they are found not guilty, so be it, ship their asses back to the middle east. As for the torture, if it ultimately saves American lives, that's what in my mind counts.
