See article below in the Daily News. Sgt. Crowley is a damn good officer. I can tell you that it doesn't matter what color or race you are, if you're stupid, you're going to treated like a stupid person. I still agree with Alan Keyes, that Obama is not the President, as he is not qualified. see video
Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley says that he's not racist for arresting Henry Louis Gates, citing the CPR he gave the Celtics star Reggie Lewis as proof.
The cop who arrested African-American scholar Henry Louis Gates refused to apologize and denied he's a racist, saying he once gave black basketball star Reggie Lewis mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
"I wasn't working on Reggie Lewis the basketball star. I wasn't working on a black man," Sgt. James Crowley told the Boston Herald. "I was working on another human being."
Crowley, 42, was referring to his actions after the Boston Celtics forward suffered a fatal heart attack in 1993 at Brandeis University, where he was a campus cop.
An 11-year veteran of the Cambridge Police Department, Crowley arrested Gates, a noted Harvard professor, last Thurdsay while investigating a reported break-in at Gates' home.
"I just have nothing to apologize for," Crowley said of the arrest. "It will never happen."
For a week, Gates' disorderly conduct arrest has rekindled a heated debate on police misconduct on talk shows, blogs, chatrooms and dinner tables around the nation.
President Obama said on Wednesday that the officer "acted stupidly" in arresting Gates after the professor showed him identification.
"There is a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately, and that's just a fact," Obama said.
Obama said federal officials need to continue working with local law enforcement "to improve policing techniques so that we're eliminating potential bias."
Others said Gates prompted the arrest by refusing to cooperate.
"This is what happens to black men in America!" Gates yelled as he was arrested as onlookers gathered outside his house.
Gates said Crowley walked into his home without his permission and arrested him after he repeatedly demanded the sergeant's name and badge number.
The professor called Crowley a "rogue" cop who targeted him because of his race, and demanded an apology.
Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas, with Gates attorney Walter Prince's consent, dropped the charge on Tuesday, calling the incident "an unfortunate set of circumstances."
The Cambridge Police Superior Officers Association expressed its "full and unqualified support" for Crowley, calling him a "highly respected veteran supervisor with a distinguished record."
The group's statement called Crowley's actions "consistent with his training, with the informed policies and practices of the department and with applicable legal standards."
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, who is black, said he was troubled and upset over the incident. Cambridge Mayor Denise Simmons - she's also black - apologized to Gates on behalf of the city.
The six o'clock ruleI tell them to act according to the six o'clock rule, a phrase that causes most of them to say, "Huh?"
I tell them to use this little test before they decide to do something. If they were to do what they're thinking about, and it became the lead story on the six o'clock news, would they be proud? Would their department be proud, and would their family be proud? It's a simple way to live your life both personally and professionally.

I suspect So Fla Cop is pissed about this article or one like it. He has every right to be. You guys in LE put your lives on the line and treat everyone with the utmost respect.
Then we get bigoted idiots like this Gates character.

Hang in there, Crowley. There are many that support you.

Go climb back into your hole, Osama bin Obama.

Others said Gates prompted the arrest by refusing to cooperate.
That's the Gods honest truth, if Gates would have cooperated, we wouldn't be hearing this BULLSHIT right now. I wonder what the story would be had the arresting officer been black? No, that would be too simple. We don't get to pick our arresting officers.
"This is what happens to black men in America!" Gates yelled as he was arrested as onlookers gathered outside his house.
No, this is what happens to bigoted idiots who don't want to cooperate and pull the race card.

It will never happen, see above.

Un-freaking-believable. Another sell-out.
This is the only positive thing that I can get out of this whole article, now that we know who the sell-outs are.

I heard our POS Obama last night commenting about the police acting stupidly - The fucking idiot needs to stick to wasting money and running car companies.
He may THINK he's omnificent, but if he wasn't there he has no idea WTF he's talking about, and thus should keep his conclusions to himself until he talks personally with all parties involved.

07-23-09, 09:52 PM #11I guess the feds are perfect in all that is Obama's glory. Lord knows I could use some improved unbiased policing techniques from them. I wonder how whatever federal officials he's talking about feel about that statement.Obama said federal officials need to continue working with local law enforcement "to improve policing techniques so that we're eliminating potential bias."Do not war for peace. Surfing one of the most popular social networking sites, I found something that made me feel a little better about this. There is a support page, recently started, for Sgt Crowley that is, as of a few minutes ago, up to 2600 members. Henry Louis Gates Jr's page, which has obviously been up for a while, that only has about 1500 members. Others have popped up specifically for his support. All of those sites total less than 2500 members (including the original 1500 member site). Support is out there and it is mounting.
EDIT: I just checked and the site gained 117 members in the time it took me to post that^^.*************************"It wouldn't take much for me to up and run...to another life somewhere in the sun."

Obama doesn't regret 'acted stupidly' remark about Henry Gates Jr. arrest
GOD, I hate that smug grin of his

By Michael Sheridan
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

What's everyone so upset about?
That was President Obama's response Thursday night during an ABC News interview when asked if he regretted his "acted stupidly" comment during Wednesday night's press conference.

President Obama seemed to shrug off criticism that his 'acted stupidly' comment was too
harsh during an ABC News interview Thursday night
"I am suprised by the controversy," Obama told ABC's Terry Moran. "I think it was [a] pretty straightforward comment that you probably don't need to handcuff a guy, a middle-aged man who uses a cane, who's in his own home."
And while Obama did not apologize for his strong jab, he attempted to soften its impact by offering compliments to the police officer at the center of the Henry Louis Gates Jr. arrest, Sgt. James Crowley.
"From what I can tell, the sergeant involved is an outstanding police officer," the President offered, adding that he "has extraordinary respect for the difficulties of the job that police officers do."
The President was asked Wednesday during his health care press conference about the controversial arrest of the black Harvard professor in Cambridge, and responded, "The Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home."
Crowley was on the defensive earlier in the day following Obama's sharp remark.
"I just have nothing to apologize for," Crowley said, insisting he wasn't a racist. And the Cambridge Police Superior Officers Association seems to agree.
"Upon review, the Association expresses its full and unqualified support for the actions taken by Sgt. Crowley in response to the report of a possible break-in at a residence on Ware Street in Cambridge," the union said in a statement.
Crowley had harsh words for the President, too.
"I think he was way off base wading into a local issue without knowing all the facts," Crowley told Boston radio station WBZ-AM. "I acted appropriately. I've done nothing wrong." (Read more here)
Obama noted during his ABC News interview that he felt the arrest was one that simply got out of hand.
"Words were exchanged between the police officer and Mr. Gates," he said, "and everybody should have just settled down and cooler heads should have prevailed."
The incident happened last week after Gates, 58, a Harvard professor, returned home from a trip to China. While he had trouble entering his home, a passerby reported it to police as a possible break-in.
Police arrived and demanded Gates prove he lived in the house. The professor became agitated and criticized the police. Cops later arrested him outside his home.
The city of Cambridge later issued a statement calling Gates' arrest on charges of disorderly conduct, which were dropped, "regrettable and unfortunate."

I'm so sick of hearing this bullshit byline to his bullshit, backhanded "apology." From what I can tell, Sgt. Crowley had no need to "settle down." Sgt. Crowley, in fact, was the only one who had a "cool head" in this entire situation. I don't give a fuck if you're an RP/complainant, a suspect, or a bystander. You start hurling insults about my mom etc., and I'm gone. I'm not even sticking around to give you my name and badge number. Nowhere does it say that I have to take your shit-talking. You follow me OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOUSE, and continue to berate me in a manner that draws attention and breaches the peace, you get two chances. I will ask you to go inside your house, I will tell you, and then you're mine.
Sgt. Crowley TRIED to have cooler heads prevail by telling this piece of disrespectful trash to go back inside his home and to cease his disturbance. Hell, he was leaving, and the D-bag followed him! I do not work in a culture of "settling down." I remain professional in my demeanor, and I will arrest you if you don't obey my lawful orders. If you think that by doing so, I need to "settle down", you can just pour yourself a nice glass of Go Fuck Yourself. That includes that fucking snake we elected.
