Biden: Weakened Russia Will Bend To U.S.

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Vice President Joe Biden says Russia will make accommodations to U.S. demands on numerous national-security issues due to a host of problems the country is currently experiencing. The vice president made the remarks in a Wall Street Journal interview published Saturday.

Biden tells the WSJ: "Russia has to make some very difficult, calculated decisions. They have a shrinking population base, they have a withering economy, they have a banking sector and structure that is not likely to be able to withstand the next 15 years, they're in a situation where the world is changing before them and they're clinging to something in the past that is not sustainable."

According to the Interfax News agency, Moscow officials are taken aback by the vice president's comments and unsure of what to make of them.

"Now that Russian and U.S. delegations and institutions have started important practical work to put into practice the agreements that have been achieved, it is perplexing why the second-in-command in the U.S. administration, Vice President Joe Biden, decided to share his interpretation of and his view on the bilateral relations," Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko said.

During his recent trip to Europe, President Obama met separately with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Obama, working to turn Russia from antagonist to ally, asked the Russian people to "forge a lasting partnership" with the U.S.

The president also acknowledged after talks with Putin that on divisive issues there won't be "a meeting of the minds anytime soon."

Quayle was on Huckabee this weekend, and does seem to be a bit wiser than his V.P. days.

I'm telling you that maybe it's my tinfoil hat.

However, I expect Obama to have enough of Biden and have him resign. Then he will announce Rahm Emmanuel or Axelrod to be his next VP. You will have a public who will scorn 'ole Joe and profess to be happy to have a "professional" in the position.

Obama isn't even in the same league with Ronald Reagan. Reagan was a true American statesmen and well respected by the leaders of other countries. Reagan's word was his bond. These leaders from other contries now are laughing at Nobama.
