Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) calls the President a liar during his healthcare speech on Wednesday
One of the most persistent conservative concerns about health care legislation is that it will provide health care to illegal immigrants -- and the heated claim spilled onto the floor of President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress this evening, where one Republican member called the president a liar for denying it.
"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false - the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," President Obama said.
A loud voice from the Republican side of the hall answered, "You lie!" -- my colleague Glenn Thrush reports it was Rep. Joe Wilson (R - S.C.) -- drawing a second "It's not true," from Obama and a shake of Nancy Pelosi's head.
The bill is designed to exclude those immigrants, though some Republicans have called for more explicit bans on funding for illegal immigrants and have claimed the bill will funnel money to illegal immigrants.
FactCheck.org described those claims as "false" and noted that one version of the legislation already includes an explicit bar on federal funding for illegal immigrants' health care.

Within the hour of the end of Obama's speech...
WASHINGTON (CNN) — GOP Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina issued a statement Wednesday night apologizing for his outburst during President Obama's speech to Congress:
“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

I agree with Congressman Wilson's opinion. However, there is a time and place. During the speech was neither.

Maybe Nobama will invite him to the White House for a beer.
Then Mr. Wilson can in his lap.

My wife and I were away way ukp in Yankee Land and Canada when Nobama made his speech. Rep Welson's outburst (the truth by the way) was heard around the world. The Canadians were nice enough not to mention it in our talks, etc, BUT, back in Yankee Land (NY and NJ), those folks were just livid with disgust. The comments ran from racist to KKK to he should be fired (which he can't). One commentator from Mass said he certainely won't be re-elected. The dumb jerk doesn't realize that Rep. Wilson had, with his comment, nailed his reelection. He has said what most of his constitutants and others have been saying for a long time, YOU LIE. As far as Nancy Polosi, well she can be shocked and give that stare all she wants, because as Nobama, SHE LIES also. Now that Nobama is on the ropes, lets see he (actually, Rham Emmanual and his Socialist buddies) can come up with, as Nobama never had an original idea that wasn't Blackberryed to him..
WAY TO GO, JOE..

Just a side note. After Joe Wilson quickly apologized for his outburst, he made a statement saying he understands immigration issues and is sensitive to them, because he was an immigration attorney. Only, all legal records show he was a real estate attorney, and never an immigration attorney.
So yes, Joe Wilson, YOU LIE!
I'm no fan of Obama or his Obamacare, but I call it like I see them.
